"John Carter" Fun Fact Fridays #4
Martian-istas? Even though you probably won't be seeing Barsoom's finest on the catwalk, the characters in Disney's sci-fi fantasy "John Carter" have a unique fashion sense that's sure to set trends. Curious to copy JC style for your own "otherworldly" look? Then don't miss "John Carter" when it lands in theaters March 9. In the meantime, check out these fashionable fun facts from the film.
• Over 120,000 Swarovski crystals were used to create Dejah Thoris’ Zodangan wedding outfit. Each individual stone was painstakingly applied by hand to her dress, train, crown, and cuffs.
• Actress Lynn Collins, when not donning her Dejah Thoris look, has strawberry blonde hair and fair skin.
• Mayes C. Rubeo (“Avatar” and “Apocalypto”) designed approximately 1,800 costumes for the film.
• Making Matai Shang’s silver Thern robes took 383 yards of material and approximately 250 man-hours to sew by hand.

Winners were announced Saturday night at the 39th Annual Annie Awards’ ceremony, held at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California. MEET WOOLA
“Woola would find you anywhere on Barsoom.” – Sola to John Carter
Woola is a Calot, a large, incredibly fast (up to 250 miles per hour!), lizard-like dog with 10 legs and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth capable of ripping through flesh and armor. Originating from Helium, Woola's fiercely protective of John Carter, who was the first person to ever show him kindness by coming to his rescue. His highly developed sense of smell enables him to track John Carter from anywhere on Barsoom.
